Dayton, Ohio Wedding | Rachael + Scott

I couldn't have been more excited to be asked to photograph Scott and Rachael's wedding. The bride and I went to high school together. As a Banks and Barnhart, we were often seated together in classes and always had the same homeroom.  We also both played the saxophone in (*cough* *cough*) marching band.  I never would have imagined that "keep in touch!" on the back of a senior picture would turn into becoming her future wedding photographer, but I am so glad that it did.

Let me tell you, Scott and Rachael are IN LOVE. Not just ordinary love. This is the kind of love where you can't wipe the smile off your face and other people around you become slightly nauseated, yet they secretly love every second of it. The two were so excited to get married to one another. They opted for a private ceremony on a chilly Sunday afternoon on St. Patrick's Day at Benham's Grove in Centerville, Ohio.

Rachel picked up her flowers at the 2nd Street Market the night before, making her own gorgeous bouquet of fresh tulips.

Scott and Rachael opted for a "first look" at one another before the ceremony.  I absolutely love First Looks, and this one was no exception.  Scott eagerly awaited his bride by the windows...

... and instantly melted the second he saw her.  The moment was so tender and sweet.  I still get teary-eyed when I see it!

Every groom should be this excited to see his bride!

The two were even kind enough to let me try out a new technique for wedding portraits called the Brenizer Method. The picture above and below are both stitched together from more than 20 photographs.  It definitely gave them more time to snuggle!

Can you see the heart that showed up in the curtains of the house above their heads?  I didn't notice it at all when I was taking the pictures, but it was so evident when I started editing. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Scott and Rachael's reception followed on May 10, 2013 at the same venue as their wedding.  The vibe was just as relaxed with very few formalities.  They decorated the venue with fresh tulips and framed photos from their wedding day.  The guests dined on delicious barbecue and homemade beer while they enjoyed the live band... which included Rachael's dad on electric guitar!  This reception was an absolute joy to photograph.

The kids even brought in a little surprise from the pond outside!
